Made (Very) Fresh Daily

February 29, 2012

d

Made Fresh Daily is a bit of a virgin label, rather they were, the UK based House/Deep-House Label has wasted no time at all, quickly dispensing of any of their said chastity with an amazing debut release (001) from Ollie Gibson. The “Comin’ Home” EP also includes a remix from Cubiq (which is a respectably technical affair in and of itself) in addition to another quality track that will be released on the B-side of the Ep, by Ollie.

As this is Made Fresh Daily’s first release, and such a strong one at that, I only reckon, because I guess I’m feeling particularly optimistic with spring starting to poke it’s head through winter’s grim veil, that this is just the start of more great things to come from the Made Fresh folks. The team has actually already released 002 and 003, but it seems like 001 is the shining star here?

Sun Goddess Ep: Mr. Beatnick

February 28, 2012

d

Forthcoming in a few weeks on Don’t Be Afraid, this is the opening track from the closely guarded ‘Sun Goddess EP’ by Mr. Beatnik, also called ‘Sun Goddess,’ ripped (obviously) from a recent airing of Gilles Peterson’s show on Radio 1. As an integral player in the London Beats scene and one of the few mentionable hip hop producers to enter the house and techno fold of late, Sun Goddess is yet more evidence that Mr. Beatnick stands in a class of his own (if you like Kyle Hall, Mr. Beatnick’s productions are of a similarly inspired, J-Dilla-esque mutation). Look out for this one and expect the Ep to be available in March.

Lee Webster Updates

February 27, 2012

d

It’s been a minute since I shared some of Lee Webster’s newer work. I’m going to maintain regular updates on Lee as long as he’s continuing to put out new material (which he does quite regularly and to quite a great affect). If you’re not familiar with Lee Webster you’re missing out – have a look at my last post on aka Mr. Hi-Rize, there’s some exclusive shieet in there and oodles of more free downloads. Here’s a handful of Lee’s latest works, they’re in sequential order of release and pretty much cover (very well) the last month of his strangely unique musical journey:

Slummin it – Inland Knights (LWs vibe rmx)

Slide my Love into You – Lee Webster

This little floor snack called Cool Kids went over really well the other night. I put it on right as everybody was transitioning from dinner to drinks - it’s a perfect track to get the early, say ten o’clock cocktail crowd moving a little bit:

Cool Kids (prev) – LW

Seafood Sauce (preview) – LW

How to Win Your Love – Spencer Parker (LW Edit)

Another great transition or warmup track:

Do You Feel Me – LW

Cant go on (Preview)- LW

Moments.

February 23, 2012

Moments. is an artist from Australia. Whatever else there is to know, because that’s all I know about Moments. I can only speculate. Moments. is probably a 20 something year old… young adult-ish. Probably holed up in his dorm room right now touching up his new track ‘The Horses’ or maybe he has his own apartment. Maybe he lives with his parents, maybe Moments. decided college wasn’t for him and only shows up on campus from time to time to use the free internet in the library. I digress… wherever Moments. lives currently or does is wide of the point. Moments. is producing some of loveliest sounds my ear holes have ever heard. I highly recommend the remix of Big Jet Plane. [And so you're not confused, Moments. also goes by Bear Feet and Hare N Hound in addition to Moments]. More on Moments.

The Horses – Bear Feet

Waterfalls – Hare N Hound

Africa - Bear Feet

Big Jet Plane [Moments Dreamscape Navigation] - Angus & Julia Stone

Since it’s inception some three or four years ago (to absolutely no avail whatsoever) Moombahton’s still a mystery to me. I’m left scratching my head, wondering how anyone possibly gleans satisfaction from such a drastically lesser form of even the crappiest house, techno, electro and god forbid even Dutch house. Despite my best efforts to disavow Moombahton I’ve been tempted with this delightful little remix of De La Soul’s Say No Go from Lithuanian producer Boyfriend:

Say No Go (Boyfriend Rmx) - De La Soul

Tropical Shangri-la:

Seychelles – Perseus

Steamin’ Feelin’ (HartJam) – Bob James

Ajello – Sabrer, 3 Remixes from Hannulelauri

February 22, 2012

d

All the way from cold ass Finland, Hannulelauri, formed by Hannu Nieminen and Lauri Soini have since 2009 onward been going about disparately dispensing a selection of now, cult status Ep’s, three to be exact in addition to the off 12″ here and there. Their first of 2012, Hannulelauri’s newest release is a set of three different takes on the berry berry respectable Italian production duo Ajello‘s new track Sabrer – which has recently been released on a very interesting new label, Danny Was a Drag King. Check that one out if you can. The release is called Smells Like Too Cheesy - all post disco devotees and balearic zealots this is your proverbial wet dream. I strongly implore everyone to try and check it out. If you weren’t educated before, well, you still probably aren’t, how could you be? But you can delve into Ajello’s discogs. The sheer multiplicity of their discography should keep you busy for a long while. Here’s the buy link again for Smells Like Too Cheesy and here are the Hannulelauri remixes for Sabrer:
